Dearest you,
A few nights ago I dreamt of you. We were at a seaside, with shoplots along the pier. There was a two-storey bookshop there, with glass windows overlooking the sea, and a small cafe tucked in a corner. We spent our time looking for books, and when we found the ones we were looking for, we were so joyous we giggled all the way to the cashier.
Then we took a walk down the pier. It was quite cold and windy. We stopped at a point, talked a little bit about how we got up to this point, and showed each other how happy we were. And then I woke up, left with this sadness inside me…
Went to the office the next morning, and heard this song. And I was transported back to the pier, and to the memory of you.
You are always on my mind
(Elvis Presley; Willie Nelson)
Maybe I didn’t treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn’t love you
Quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn’t died
Give me, give me one more chance
To keep you satisfied, satisfied
Maybe I didn’t hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I’m so happy that you’re mine
If I make you feel second best
I’m sorry I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn’t died
Give me, give me one more chance
To keep you satisfied, satisfied
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You are always on my mind
You are always on my mind
