Begini ceritanya…

Ada seorang kawan, dia sangatlah jiwang orangnya. Yang membawa masalah dalam kejiwangan dia ini, dia cepat cair. Kalau dah cair, semakin mendalamlah jiwang dia. Namun begitu, dalam kejiwangan yang tak putus-putus itu, dia malu (atau segan, atau malas, atau tak ada masa) untuk mengambil tindakan. Jadi kejiwangan yang ada itu akan luntur sedikit demi sedikit, hinggalah tiba masa ada orang (yang sama atau yang lain) mencairkannya kembali.
Bertolak dari kelembapan dia untuk berbuat apa-apa demi kehidupan jiwangnya, statusnya masih ‘single, available, and looking hard‘. Apa yang cuma dia lakukan ialah mengganggu kehidupan rakan-rakan sekeliling dengan cerita-cerita menyerupai Siti di Alam Fantasinya itu.
Namun begitu, walaupun dia cepat cair dengan sesiapa saja, tak kira di mana dan bila, ada seseorang yang boleh mencairkan dan menjiwangkan hatinya tanpa berbuat apa-apa. Ada seseorang yang mengisi wilayah hatinya. Belum sampai ke tahap bertakhta di jiwa, kerana dia tidak berani untuk meluahkan isi hatinya kepada orang (yang malang bertuah) itu. Tambah mengusutkan keadaan, mereka ini berkawan. Bak kata Gusti Puteri, mereka ‘menginjak pada tanah yang sama, bernafas pada udara yang sama’. Ada saja yang dilakukan bersama. Dan meminjam kata Hang Tuah, setapak kawan ini melangkah, dua langkah ingatannya pada seseorang itu.
Sayangnya kawan ini masih berdegil. Masih tidak mahu mencari kebenaran. Masih mahu statik dengan statusnya sendiri dan mencarinya itu. Dia takut untuk tahu, dan mungkin ingin mengambil langkah selamat agar dirinya tidak tercedera dengan penolakan sebuah tawaran kasih. Mungkin juga dia merasa seseorang itu tidak mungkin menerimanya sebagai seorang yang lebih dari kawan. Dan apa yang cuma kawan ini lakukan adalah berdoa dan mengharap dan menunggu akan datangnya kebolehan luarbiasa pada seseorang itu, yang membolehkannya membaca isihati kawan ini. Apa yang akan terjadi? Pupuskah kawan ini suatu masa nanti?

Am listening to Made in Malaysia 16 Greatest Hits Classic Rock. The contents are just what it says in the title, 16 classic rock greatest songs, sung by (mostly famous) Malaysian rock singers. I, being a rock kapak kind of person, can’t help myself from buying the CD (2-disc set, RM29.90) after I saw the titles. Wild World, Wonderful Tonight, Let It Be, To Be With You…these are some of my all-time favourite songs. You sing them to me (acoustic guitar-strumming optional), and I’ll readily marry you…

Anyway, here are the review of some of the songs:

Wonderful Tonight, original singer Eric Clapton, sung by Ito
Ito, of the Blues Gang fame, is known for his raspy, made-for-blues voice. Here he sounds a bit slurry, like someone who has had a pint or two of beer. Would be really great to hear him sing this one live, but the recorded version is a bit karaoke-ish.

Wild World, original singer Cat Stevens@Yusof Islam, sung by Andy Flop Poppy
Anddddddddddeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I love youuuuuuuuuuuuuu! This song suits Andy well; it’s catchy and melodious, similar to some of the songs by Flop Poppy. His fluency in English doesn’t hurt, either. But I’m biased; I love Andy, and I love Wild World more…

To Be With You, original singer Mr. Big, sung by Shamrin
Fotograf was a group that was quite famous in the early nineties. Shamrin was their lead vocal. They stayed in the scene for about 3 years, and then disappeared. Their drummer, Ringgo, was cute, though…
Anyway, Shamrin sounds rushed in the early part of the song, like he’s being chased by a train. And I think  he has tweaked the rhythm a bit, it sounds just a bit wrong…But if you want to hear a typical Malay singing of an English song, this is one nice example, hehehehe…

Let It Be, original singer The Beatles, sung by Jatt
My parents listened to Black Dog Bone in the 80’s, so I guess I had my first exposure to Jatt’s voice then. I can remember some of their songs (e.g. geram..jangan engkau geram…); and their famous Cahaya Aidil Fitri is a staple Hari Raya song. But I can’t remember Jatt’s voice - so wonderful, so fluid, so relaxed; none of those I’m-straining-hard-to-get-the-high-pitch-right a la Jaclyn Victor or Farah AF. Let It Be by Jatt flows like honey and soothes your troubled souls. McCartney, eat your heart out!
Footnote: Good enough to be the reason to get the CD. Good enough to make me turn mellow…

Verdict: Get this if you don’t mind the Malay-accented English. At least they’re not pretentious…

p/s:…I’m the one who wants to be with you…Deep inside I hope you feel it, too…

There will be a phase in every girl’s life when she becomes attracted to bad boys. ‘Bad’ includes gatal, tak sekolah, nakal, pemalas, and all kinds of vice that you can find in the dictionary. Somehow this group of people (the bad boys, I mean) exudes sexiness. The badder they are, the sexier they become.

I put this theory to test during Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical, and oh, how true it is (for me, at least hahahaha)! Who wants goody-two-shoes Hang Tuah, no matter how handsome and gagah perkasa he is? It’s Sultan Melaka you want to elope with/be a concubine of/be a servant to. Betul lah kot peribahasa moden tu, good guys finish last…
